Cinque Terre

Cinque Terre - Wednesday
Today we left Florence bright and early to catch the 3 hour to Cinque Terre. A lady approached us just off the train and asked if we had a place to stay and promptly took us to her guest house where we stayed for the next two nights. Here is a shot from our door step looking down the "street". Cinque Terre is tied with Siena for being my favorite town/city on the trip. You'll see why as you continue looking! We walked down to the beach and sat in the sand for awhile enjoying the gorgeous blue water and bright green hills. We took a boat to the next town over (we stayed at the furthest north town of the five) to Vernazza and sat out on the rocks people-watching. I'm on a boat!We went back to our guest house and showered and changed for an evening of delicious food at Belvedere. They are known for their sea food, so Sonya enjoyed a huge platter of fresh seafood while I enjoyed Cinque Terre's pesto dish (CT is the pesto originator).
Thursday
Today we hiked the Cinque Terre trail. We took the train to the 1st town on the other end and hiked back. It was a 7 mile hike, which isn't bad for us CO girls, but doing it in walking sandals is another story. Ouch! The trail definitely got harder as we went along, but the scenery was so ridiculously amazing!!!After another much-needed shower, we took the train back to Vernazza (my favorite of the 5 towns) and ended up meeting the cutest Australian couple. We asked them to dinner and had the best night of laughing and chatting!
